SOD II: OUROBOROS

Our progress

Currently in: Systems integration Phase

Upcoming: Documental integration Phase

Mars represents our next frontier- a bold opportunity to extend humanity's reach and redefine what's possible.

Establishing a base on Mars is not only an inspiring challenge but a strategic venture. With its resources like water ice, minerals and carbon dioxide, Mars holds the potential for self-sufficiency, allowing us to build a sustainable presence far from earth.
By building a base on Mars, we pave the way for a future where humanity thrives across the solar system. This mission represents not only a milestone for space exploration, but a testament to our commitment to innovation, resilience and a future without boundaries.

Why Mars?

The design of 2025

The design of 2025 will be significantly guided by the theme of modular expansion and biomimicry. Modular expansion allows us to create flexible and scalable structures that can adapt to changing needs, ensuring that our spaces remain relevant and functional over time. Biomimicry, on the other hand, draws inspiration from nature to solve complex design challenges, promoting sustainability and efficiency in our architecture and systems.

We have established a comprehensive multi-year purpose plan that outlines the various functions our base will serve over the years. This plan considers current requirements and anticipates future demands, allowing for a proactive approach to design.

Biology

And how the Martian base can become safe and comfortable for its human inhabitants.

Architecture

And how the use of biomimicry and the vision for a human centred design come together in the process of creating the Martian base.

Engineering

And how the Martian base can become resistant to the extreme and aggressive environments found on Mars.

Our world

In recent decades, the rapid growth of the human population has outpaced the capacity of our cities and urban designs to evolve in tandem. This mismatch between expansion and preparedness has left urban areas struggling to meet the challenges of the modern era.
Climate change is amplifying these vulnerabilities, bringing an increased frequency of extreme weather events: prolonged heatwaves, severe droughts and episodes of devastating high water. These stressors expose the urgent need for our cities to adapt and build resilience against a rapidly changing world.
