SODII: OUROBOROS

The design

The base, OUROBOROS, is named after the mythological snake eating its tail. It symbolises the key term in the design: adaptability. The snake has been thoroughly used as a source of biomimicry in urban design, making the base adaptable to the Martian surface, and in panels that use osmosis to transform in response to dust storms. Another highlight is the research into pykrete, a sustainable material that functions as a radiation shield and a construction material. Finally, the base makes human habitation possible as the design supports both the physical and mental needs of the inhabitants.
